The story behind Soulo from our founder, Brian.

From an early age, I had the mindset of a creative entrepreneur. At the same time, I was trying to figure out what it meant to be gay. Every night when I took a bath, the one thing I kept coming back to were feelings—how to feel, the lack of feelings, what they’re trying to tell me and what to do with them.

It was when I safely tapered off of an antidepressant that I was on for ten years that I realized how numb I had become as my feelings came back to life. This is when I realized that as a culture, we understand how to numb our feelings, but struggle to actually feel them. The self-care category keeps getting more confusing but the message remains the same: feel better.

I created Soulo to redefine how we approach our feelings and create an experience that acknowledges where you’re at instead of just telling you to feel better. The bath has been a place of comfort for me and pairing this with the emotional benefits of music and reflection, makes it a space for self-exploration in a different way than traditional meditation.

Beyond my story, the bath and music have scientifically been shown to help people feel their feelings and I hope it does the same for you. When we have the ability to feel and share our feelings, it allows others to do the same.

With all the feelings,

Brian Lamy
